COMPOSITION: Florfenicol in 1 ml…………. 300 mg.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES: Florfenicol, a fluorinated derivative of chloramphenicol, acts by inhibiting protein synthesis at the ribosomal level and is bacteriostatic. Florfenicol is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic that is effective against most Gram-positive (Coryneobacterium pyogenes, Streptococcus spp, Staphylococcus spp, Clostridium spp)and Gram-negative (E.coli, Pasteurella haemolytica, P.multocida, Haemophilus somnus, Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia) bacteria. Florfenicol is resistant against enzymatic deactivation because of its Fluor atom and is effective against Gram negative bacteria resistant to antibacterials in the same chemical group. It is especially effective against colibacillosis in poultry caused by E.coli. It is rapidly absorbed from the gastro-intestinal canal and diffuses into the tissues via blood-stream. After a dosage of 20 mg/kg is florfenicol cleared 97% with urine and the rest via feces. It is to 52% unchanged and to 25% oxamic acid and to 7,5 % florfencol base. These compounds also have antibacterial effects.

INDICATION: For the treatment of poultry with E.coli (E.coli respiratory disease, air sacculitis or colicepticemia) and Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale infections.

USAGE AND DOSAGE: Poultry: daily norm of 30 mg florfenicol per 1.5 kg of live weight

Practically 1 ml / 1.5-2.2 liters of drinking water for 5 days

Pigs: daily norm of 10 mg of florfenicol per 1 kg of live weight

Practically 1 ml / 25-30 kg of live weight for 5 days
